"Cuore in Trincea" is a work full of meaning, which has its roots in the Ponza tradition and in the figure of the Patron Saint San Silverio. The shape of the heart, both solid and fragile, holds a profound message: it recalls an ancient gesture from times of war, when soldiers, before leaving, entrusted a prayer, a thought, a name to take with them, a gift to San Silverio, protector of the island, to a note hidden in a silver heart.
The central cavity of the work is not just an aesthetic detail: it represents the drawer of the
heart, an intimate and sacred space where the last words, wishes, fears and hopes of those leaving for the front were collected.
In this work, memory becomes matter, and devotion translates into visual language. The sculpted heart is at the same time relic resistance, emptiness and custody. A bridge between spirituality and sacrifice, between affection and survival.
